Is it permissible to determine the sex of the fetus despite the potential consequences of spinsterhood and an imbalance in the demographic structure, and what is the legitimate Shar'i opinion on that?

Determining the sex of the fetus leads to various harms, such as a decrease in the number of females, which reduces the population and contradicts contentment with Allah's decree: (He bestows female [offspring] upon whom He wills, and bestows male [offspring] upon whom He wills). It also resembles the actions of the people of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance) in their dislike of females. A resolution was issued by the Islamic Fiqh Academy permitting sex determination through natural methods, such as dietary systems, and disallowing medical intervention except out of necessity to protect the fetus from a disease that affects one sex but not the other.
