What is the ruling on explaining, reciting, and interpreting the Qur’an to children using drawings and gestures?

There is no harm in using gestures and drawing non-living things to teach children. The Prophet used to explain to the Companions through gestures and draw some things for clarification. Examples include drawing a square with a line in its middle extending outside of it, and small lines for clarification. He also drew a line and said, "This is the path of Allah," then drew lines to its right and left and said, "These are the [other] paths." This indicates the permissibility of drawing for clarification as long as it does not involve drawing living beings.
