Does "kufur" in the beginning of the verse (Indeed, disbelievers are those who say, "Allah is the third of three") carry the same meaning as "kafuru" at the end of the verse (a painful torment will surely afflict those of them who disbelieved), and why did it say "kafuru minhum" (who disbelieved among them) even though all of them are already disbelievers?

The exegetes—such as Al-Tahir Ibn Ashour—explained that "those who disbelieved" in the verse refers to the same people as "those who said that Allah is the third of three." The shift from the pronoun to the relative pronoun (ism mawsool) is to reiterate the recording of their disbelief and to allude to the reason for the ruling. His statement: "among them" clarifies "those who disbelieved," as a precaution against the misconception that the threat is for other disbelievers.
