Should our love for the Prophets vary according to their superiority in the sight of Allah, or is that considered a forbidden differentiation between them?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Love for the prophets is obligatory and part of faith. They are most deserving of love for the sake of Allah, due to their truthfulness, their conveyance of the message, and their patience. Our love for the prophets varies according to the variation in their virtues. The one who is more virtuous is loved more, because love for people follows from love and glorification of Allah, and their love for Allah is one of the causes of Allah's love. This is similar to our love for the Companions: we love them all, and our love for the best among them increases because religious love is necessarily linked to superiority. Thus, whoever believes in the superiority of one of them, then religiously loves another more, is contradictory.
