What is the ruling on sitting with those who insult and curse unjust officials and rulers, and what is our duty towards them, and how can we respond to them?
A Muslim must keep his tongue pure from insults, slanders, and curses. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The believer is not one who slanders, or curses, or speaks obscenely or lewdly." The majority of jurists are of the opinion that it is impermissible to curse a specific individual. It is recommended to offer them advice, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Religion is sincerity (or good counsel)."
