What was the stance of the Mothers of the Believers, especially Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), regarding not having children?

The stance of the Prophet's wives, peace be upon him, regarding not having children, is the stance of a believer who submits to the words of Allah Almighty: "To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He creates what He wills. He bestows female [offspring] upon whom He wills, and bestows male [offspring] upon whom He wills. Or He bestows both males and females, and He renders barren whom He wills. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent." (Ash-Shura: 49-50). The desire for a child is natural. Ibn Abi Shaybah and Ibn Hibban narrated that Aisha wished for a kunya (honorific name), so the Prophet, peace be upon him, gave her the kunya "Umm Abdullah" (Mother of Abdullah), even though she never bore children.
