Is it obligatory to accept a young man who proposed to me, and who is good-looking and well-spoken, or are the hesitation, fear, and negative thoughts I have towards him considered a justification for rejecting him?

A suitor whose righteousness is apparent should not be rejected merely due to doubt or an insignificant flaw, for a wise person weighs good deeds against bad ones. It is advisable to inquire thoroughly about him. If his religiosity and character are satisfactory, he should be accepted after seeking guidance from Allah the Almighty through Istikhara.
