Is it permissible to divide the Qur’an and distribute it among friends in different places to read it with the intention of dedicating the reward to a deceased person? Does the reward reach the deceased and is it counted for the reader? What is the best way for everyone to benefit? And will I be rewarded for encouraging friends to read?

A disagreement arose among jurists regarding the dedication of the reward of recitation to the deceased, with the preponderant opinion being permissibility. Nevertheless, it is more appropriate for a Muslim to reserve the reward of his recitation for himself and supplicate for his deceased, as a way of avoiding the difference of opinion. Dedicating a part of the Qur'an to the deceased is permissible, and the reward goes to the one for whom it is dedicated. The one who dedicates it may also be rewarded from another aspect, such as his love for good. Whoever guides to this act will also be rewarded, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever guides to a good deed will have a reward like that of its doer."
