The word (سعو) in Saba' does not have an alif written after the waw in the , in accordance with the writing of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them. This conforms to the rules of Quranic orthography regarding elision. The alif has also been elided in other words such as (جاءْو), (عتوْ), (أن يعفو), (فإن فاءو), (فباءو), and (وباءو).
