In matters of disagreement, the common person must emulate — in issues of scholarly dispute — one in whose knowledge and piety they trust among the people of knowledge. Their conscience will be cleared thereby, and they will not be held accountable on the Day of Judgment. As for the , if he issues a based on an qualified , he will be rewarded whether he is correct or mistaken.
