Is it permissible to alienate people from the scholars of Al-Azhar, claiming they contradict Islam, or is it obligatory to seek forgiveness and repent for such an act?

Trustworthy and upright scholars are entitled to evaluate fatwas, as no one is free from error except Allah and His Messenger, and they must be referred to in case of dispute. Ordinary Muslims and students of knowledge must refrain from slandering scholars, for the flesh of scholars is poisonous, and repentance is obligatory for backbiting them. Laypeople should emulate those scholars whom they trust in their religiosity, knowledge, and piety.
