Is wiping the anus with a tissue or with water after defecation forbidden and considered sodomy?

It is permissible to use a tissue or the hand to purify from impurity. This is not considered an act of sodomy. Rather, it is recommended to moisten the palm of the left hand before encountering the impurity to facilitate the removal of odor. It is also recommended to wash the hand with earth or sand after performing istinja’. Indeed, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, rubbed his hand on the ground after performing istinja’. However, inserting a finger into the anus to purify from impurity is an impermissible innovation.
