Is it reprehensible to be named "Malik" (King) Islamically?

It is disliked to be named "Malik" (king) or "Malak" (angel), and one should refrain from using these names and change them to a good name. Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked about naming with these names, and he answered that it is not permissible. Sheikh Abdur-Rahman Al-Barrak was asked about naming a girl "Malak," and he said: "It is better to avoid it," because it is an exaggeration in naming and because it is a name well-known among Christians. Sheikh Bakr bin Abdullah Abu Zayd said: "As for naming women with the names of angels, it is apparently forbidden, because it involves imitating the polytheists in their making angels daughters of Allah."
