What is the ruling on the call to prayer via radio or by playing a recorded adhan at the time of the adhan?

The Adhan (call to prayer) played from a recording device or a radio, or transmitted from one location to other mosques via electronic devices, is an innovated Bid'ah (innovation) that is not permissible, nor is it sufficient to replace the direct recitation of the Adhan when the prayer time begins. The Adhan is a communal obligation (Fard Kifayah) and a notification of the entry of prayer time, as well as an invitation to it. Muslims must appoint someone who is skilled in performing the Adhan and who can perform it himself when the prayer time begins. The Council of the Islamic Fiqh Academy has decided that relying on the broadcasting of the Adhan by means of a recording device is neither sufficient nor permissible, and that the Adhan must be performed directly for each prayer time in every mosque.
