Have there been any Hadith narrated concerning the Jews demolishing Al-Aqsa Mosque?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

There is no evidence in the Sunnah that Al-Aqsa Mosque will be destroyed at the End of Times. The hadiths that speak of tribulations and the Signs of the Hour do not indicate this. The hadith that links the prosperity of Jerusalem (Bayt al-Maqdis) with the ruin of Yathrib (Medina) is disputed in its authenticity, and "the prosperity of Jerusalem" refers to the city, not Al-Aqsa Mosque specifically. The hadith can be understood to mean that the intended prosperity is perfection, or that Jerusalem will not be ruined. This does not mean that it is impossible for Al-Aqsa Mosque to be destroyed, as Christians previously took control of it, and the Kaaba itself was destroyed and the Black Stone removed from it, without this being mentioned in the texts. If Al-Aqsa is destroyed, its land will remain sacred and retain its legal status. The Dajjal (Antichrist) was prevented from entering it, which may mean its preservation or its restoration if it suffers harm, or that the land of the mosque is intended.
