Will a girl be held accountable if she occasionally texts the young man she loves to check on him, without any soft talk or the like, knowing that she is trying to avoid what is forbidden?
It is forbidden for a Muslim woman to be in a romantic relationship with a man who is a stranger to her. If she falls in love with a man, it is her duty to protect herself from engaging with him in what Allah has forbidden, for she will be rewarded for this. If she gives room to Satan, he will entice her into committing immoral acts.
Her corresponding with him and writing to him, even if infrequently, is a means to temptation, especially when each of their hearts is attached to the other, and blocking the means to evil is obligatory. Instead, a way for marriage should be sought, and all difficulties should be overcome. If marriage is not possible, there are methods for treating infatuation that scholars have explained.
