What is the reason for the growing difficulty in reciting the Quran after having eagerly engaged in it, and for its memorization slipping away, and what is the solution to this condition?
Forgetting memorized Qur'an, if caused by abandonment and neglecting to review it, is a sin. However, if it is due to a weak memory, it is excused. Among the things that restore the heart's love for the Qur'an and increase the delight in reciting it is to frequently supplicate with the prayer: "O Allah, I am Your slave, the son of Your slave, the son of Your female slave. My forelock is in Your hand. Your judgment upon me is effective. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You, which You named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to anyone of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, the light of my breast, the dispeller of my sorrow, and the remover of my anxiety."
