For a girl to pray for marriage to a married man is permissible. However, for her to pray that God provides his fiancée with someone better than him is an act of transgression and injustice, and it necessitates breaking off the engagement. The excuse that he does not love his fiancée is not valid; it is more fitting for her to pray for someone better for herself. There is no need to prioritize between seeking forgiveness (istighfar) and supplicating (du'a); both can be combined. The questioner's feeling that her supplication has not been answered is a delusion from Satan, for in the : "One of you will have his supplication answered as long as he does not become impatient, saying: 'I supplicated but I was not answered.'" It is necessary to avoid women befriending and conversing with non- men on social media platforms.
