Who is Imam al-Haythami? And what is the opinion of Islamic scholars concerning him and his work in Hadith, given that he is said to have classified Hadith into weak and sound in "Majma' al-Zawa'id"?

Imam Nur al-Din Ali ibn Abi Bakr al-Haythami, born in 735 AH and passed away in 807 AH, was a student and son-in-law of Al-Hafiz al-Iraqi, and a teacher of Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar.

He distinguished himself by his effort in compiling the zawa'id (additional narrations) of hadith from major works such as the Musnad collections and Al-Tabarani's Muajim, thereby establishing the science of zawa'id in hadith. This was done under the guidance of his teacher, Al-Iraqi, where Al-Haythami gathered these zawa'id in his monumental work Majma al-Zawa'id wa Manba al-Fawa'id, which contained 18,776 hadith.

The benefit of this work lies in facilitating access to hadith by classifying them according to chapters of Islamic jurisprudence, in addition to Al-Haythami's critical annotations on the asanid (chains of narrators) and narrators of these hadith, including authentication (tashih) and weakening (tadif).
