Is it permissible to name Salman al-Farsi as Salman al-Muhammadi?

If the intent here concerning the attribution is lineage, then it is not permissible due to the Almighty's saying: "Call them by [the names of] their fathers; it is more just in the sight of Allah. But if you do not know their fathers, then they are your brothers in religion and your allies." However, if the intent is that it is according to his method, approach, and Sunnah (definition), then there is no harm in that, just as it is said "Muhammadan day" or "so-and-so is Muhammadan," meaning from the followers of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and this has been mentioned in the books of the people of knowledge.
