Does the noble verse, "And the wrongdoers say, 'You follow none but a bewitched man.' See how they strike examples for you; so they have gone astray, and they cannot find a way," negate the Prophet's (peace be upon him) being bewitched?

"Labeeb the Jew, son of Al-A'sam, cast magic upon the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to the extent that he imagined he was doing something when he was not. Allah Almighty cured him of this after he supplicated to his Lord and the angels informed him of the magic's location. Ibn al-Qayyim responded to those who rejected the hadith (definition) from the Sahihayn, using the noble verse as an argument, by stating that the hadith is authenticated by scholars of hadith and accepted by them. He explained that the magic that afflicted him was a type of illness from which Allah cured him, and there is no deficiency or defect in that whatsoever, for illness is permissible for prophets; rather, it is a sign of their perfection and high status with Allah."
