The descent of Gabriel (peace be upon him) with revelation is not possible, as it ceased with the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), as Umm Ayman wept over that. However, his descent without revelation is possible at any time. This is indicated by the interpretation of "the Spirit" as Gabriel in Allah's Almighty saying: "The angels and the Spirit descend therein," and His Almighty saying: "The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him." This is further supported by His Almighty saying: "The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down."
