Is a wife's refusal to fulfill her husband's excessive desires during intercourse considered a dereliction of her marital duties?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A wife must allow her husband to enjoy her in a permissible manner according to Sharia; otherwise, she is disobedient and defiant towards her Lord. It has been narrated in a Hadith that angels curse a woman who abandons her husband's bed. She must fulfill her husband's right completely, even if he asks for herself while she is on a camel saddle, she should give it to him. It is not permissible for her to observe voluntary fasting while her husband is present, except with his permission, or during Ramadan. A wife should intend, by allowing her husband to enjoy her, to seek her Lord's pleasure and to help him remain chaste. If frequent or specific types of intimacy cause harm, she may explain this to her husband.
