Is the repentance of one who committed heresies before marriage accepted, and is he required to renew the marriage contract based on the hadith: "Indeed, Allah has withheld repentance from every innovator"?

The hadith "Indeed, Allah has veiled repentance from every innovator" — scholars have differed regarding its authenticity, some deeming it sound, others weak. However, assuming its authenticity, its meaning is that an innovator does not repent as long as he considers his innovation to be good, not that his repentance is veiled from acceptance. For Allah accepts the repentance of anyone who repents from any sin. And it has been historically repeated that many who were upon innovation repented to Allah. As for one who fell into disbelief-inducing innovations out of ignorance, and was a mujtahid (exercising independent reasoning) or a muqallid (following a scholar), he is excused and does not become a disbeliever by that, and his marriage is valid and does not require renewal.
