What is the difference between the Mahdi and the Messiah?

The Awaited Mahdi is a just Imam from the progeny of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He will appear at the end of time and is not infallible. Whereas the Messiah, Jesus, peace be upon him, is a prophet who will descend at the end of time and rule according to the law of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.
