What is the ruling on holding the penis with the right hand during intercourse, and what is the ruling on holding it during masturbation for an unmarried person?

Scholars differed concerning the ruling on touching the penis with the right hand. The majority of jurists are of the opinion that it is makruh tanzihi (reprehensible to a lesser degree) to touch the penis with the right hand, while the Zahiris held it to be haram (forbidden). They also differed on whether the prohibition is specific to the state of urinating and performing istinja' (cleaning oneself after relieving oneself) or if it applies to all situations. Imam Al-Bukhari was of the view that the prohibition is only during urination, whereas masturbation with either the right or left hand is haram according to the majority of scholars.
