Is it obligatory to break the fast and make up for the missed days of fasting due to intermittent daily bleeding during breastfeeding and using birth control pills that prevent menstruation?

Since the pills stop menstruation and delaying their intake led to bleeding, the nature of the blood should be considered. If it has the characteristics of menstrual blood (dark, odorous, with pain), then it is menses. If it does not have these characteristics (light, odorless, without pain), then it is irregular bleeding (istihadha), and one should act like those who are pure, performing prayer and fasting after ablution for each prayer. A group of scholars has issued this fatwa, among them Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen and the Permanent Committee.
