If the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not kill anyone with his own hand in all his battles except Ubayy ibn Khalaf, then why did he not kill anyone else despite the intensity of the situation in battles?

The bravery of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, does not necessitate a high number of slain individuals, for four reasons:

First: He was sent as a mercy to the worlds and was keen on guiding people.

Second: Whoever is killed by him will face intensified torment, indicating the wretchedness of the slain. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did kill Ubayy ibn Khalaf.

Third: The Companions surrounded the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and sacrificed themselves for him. They did not allow anyone to reach him, except Ubayy ibn Khalaf, whom he confronted in fulfillment of a prophetic miracle.

Fourth: Bravery is not measured by the number of slain, but by the steadfastness of the heart and the absence of fear. His steadfastness was evident in the battles of Uhud and Hunayn by re-gathering the ranks of the Muslims and repelling the polytheists.
