If a person believes that musical instruments (ma'azif) and their study and earning from them are forbidden, then it is not permissible for him to cheat in their exams or to use intermediaries (wasa'it) to work in that field, because the means share the rulings of their ends. Cheating here is a means to obtain a certificate and a job in a forbidden field, so it is forbidden from two aspects: in itself, and because it is a means to forbidden earning. If the questioner sacrifices himself, then the sin is incurred whether through an intermediary or without one. As for obtaining a permissible job through an intermediary, reference should be made to no. 122108.
