My father is suffering from cancer, and I came across a method of treatment using the Qur’an. It involves reciting specific verses over water and olive oil, then using the water for bathing and drinking, and applying the oil to the affected area. Is it permissible according to Islamic law to use this method? What is the ruling on following it? I kindly ask for your advice.

The Quran is a healing and a mercy. The basic principle is that it is permissible to perform Ruqyah using the Book of Allah, the authentic Sunnah, and any permissible supplication. There is no harm in reciting Ruqyah over water or oil, and benefiting from experiences. There is no obligation to adhere to specific days; rather, Ruqyah should be used until healing is achieved. Ruqyah is not specific to cancer but is beneficial for all illnesses, magic, and the evil eye. Beneficial supplications from the Sunnah should also be added to it.
