What is the ruling on congregational prayer on large wooden "dukak" (benches) placed at the back of the mosque, separated by a considerable distance from the rows of worshippers in the front, and what is the correct action in this situation?

Prayer while sitting is not permissible except for one who is unable to stand. Bowing for prostration (īmāʾ) is not permissible except for one who is unable to prostrate. Prostration on the ground is obligatory for those sitting on chairs who are able to do so. Following the Imam in the mosque is valid even if the worshipper is far from the Imam, but the Sunnah (definition) is for the rows to be connected and to be keen on being close to the Imam and praying in the first rows.
