What are the reliable books that deal with the biographies of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, from which one can quote without fear of error?
Many diverse books have been authored about the lives of the Companions, exploring their lives, acts of worship, asceticism, knowledge, jihad, and patience. There is leniency in narrating reports attributed to them that do not pertain to rulings, as is the case in books of biography and history. Among the best books are: Fadāʾil al-Ṣaḥābah by Imam Aḥmad, Siyar Aʿlām al-Nubalāʾ by al-Dhahabī, al-Iṣābah fī Maʿrifat al-Ṣaḥābah by Ibn Ḥajar, Ṣuwar min Ḥayāt al-Ṣaḥābah by Abd al-Raḥmān Raʾfat al-Bāshā, a collection of books by Dr. ʿAlī Muḥammad al-Ṣallābī, a collection of books by Dr. Aḥmad Khalīl Jumʿah, Ḥayāt al-Ṣaḥābah by al-Kandahlawī, Mawsūʿat Ḥayāt al-Ṣaḥābah min Kutub al-Turāth by Muḥammad Saʿīd Mubayyaḍ, and the series Aʿlām al-Muslimīn by Dar al-Qalam.
