Is one sinful for boycotting his mother and relatives who have greatly harmed his wife, and what should he do about it?
It is the wife's right that her husband provide her with a suitable, independent dwelling, and she is not obligated to live with his family, as that may harm her. The husband must repent to Allah, honor his mother, and treat her with kindness. It is not permissible for him to cut ties with her or mistreat her, nor his siblings and relatives. As for sorcery, there is no objection to treating it with lawful methods, while relying on Allah and observing the prescribed remembrances. The husband must advise his wife to abandon backbiting and reviling his family, and cooperate with her in acts of obedience.
