Is it permissible for a woman to have sexual relations with her husband during the period in which they have resolved to divorce?

The intention to divorce does not affect the marital status, so the spouses are permitted to enjoy each other even if the husband intends to divorce his wife or promises her that. As for a deferred divorce, the majority of scholars are of the opinion that it does not take effect until the specified time arrives. The Maliki school, however, dissented, holding that the divorce takes effect from the moment it is uttered if the husband links it to a future event that both spouses could potentially live to see, such as his saying: "You are divorced after one year."
