Does God punish whoever shames another for a sin by afflicting him with that very sin, and what is the expiation for getting rid of it?

The expiation of sin occurs through repentance, and sincerity in repentance is achieved by regretting the sin, seeking forgiveness, resolving not to return to it, asking Allah for well-being in religious and worldly matters, and striving for uprightness.
