What is required of me regarding the Islamic education teacher who mocked my tribe in front of the students, and what is the ruling on his statement, and are the students who mock me sinful?
Mocking people and ridiculing their tribes is forbidden in Islamic law, due to Allah's saying: ﴿O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them.﴾ [Al-Hujurat:11]. Boasting about these man-made designations is reprehensible, because superiority in the sight of Allah Almighty is based on piety, as He Subhanahu said: ﴿O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.﴾ [Al-Hujurat:13]. We advise patience with those who mock, turning away from them, seeking reward from Allah, and explaining the religious ruling to them.
