What is the way to sincere repentance (tawbatun nasuḥ) from repeatedly engaging in the preliminaries of zina (unlawful sexual intercourse)? And is repentance accepted if one returns to the sin? And is that considered hypocrisy?

Preludes to adultery are a grave sin and a blatant affront to God. The obligation is sincere repentance and striving to keep oneself steadfast. God accepts sincere repentance if it fulfills its conditions. Among the reasons for persisting in repentance are: constantly contemplating death, remembering God's names and attributes and His watchfulness, and knowing that the pleasure of sin is fleeting.

To be rid of sin: - Increase acts of obedience, remembrance of God, seeking refuge from Satan, and occupying one's time with what is beneficial. - Avoid mixing with non-mahram women and lower one's gaze. - Persist in supplicating for chastity and for being blessed with a righteous wife. - Seek forgiveness and abandon the causes of temptation, such as masturbation and watching pornography. - Seek righteous companionship, fast frequently, lower one's gaze, and occupy oneself with beneficial knowledge. - Read religious texts that warn against immorality and encourage repentance, modesty before God, and sensing His watchfulness. - Be diligent in remaining steadfast in repentance and resolve not to return to sin. If you fall, seek forgiveness and repent again. - Maintain the obligatory prayers and supererogatory acts, and frequently remember God. - Hasten to marry, as it helps in lowering the gaze and guarding one's chastity. - Avoid seclusion and idleness. - Read the Book of God and ponder its meanings.
