Is an expiatory act (kaffarah) or anything else required to go back to having lunch with a friend after swearing an oath of divorce, "By divorce, I will not meet you over a dish from now on," in order to avoid the occurrence of divorce?

Swearing an oath of divorce to do or not do something is a conditional divorce according to the majority of scholars, and it takes effect when the condition is met. It cannot be dissolved, and this is the fatwa.

Some scholars are of the view that if the intention behind the divorce was to make it conditional, then it is a conditional divorce. However, if the intention was merely to swear an oath, then it can be dissolved with an expiation (kaffara).

If the reason for the oath was a quarrel and animosity, and this reason has ceased to exist, then the oath is dissolved according to some scholars, such as the Hanbalis and Malikis.
