What is the ruling on violating the honor of a believing brother or sibling, and what is required of the perpetrator for sincere repentance?

Allah Almighty has forbidden the shedding of Muslim blood, the taking of their wealth, and the violating of their honor. Violating a Muslim's honor, such as backbiting, is forbidden and a sin. Whoever commits this must repent with a sincere repentance. For the validity of repentance related to the rights of created beings—other than financial rights—it is necessary to seek their forgiveness and pardon, in addition to the general conditions of repentance.
