What are the rules established by Islam to organize the work of groups, and how does a dissenting individual deal with the majority's decision?

Islam respects the opinion of the majority in matters of ijtihad (independent reasoning) where there is no direct textual evidence. This was the guidance of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who used to consult his companions and adopt the opinion of the majority, even if it differed from his personal opinion. This occurred in the Battle of Uhud, where he adopted the majority's opinion to go out of Medina.
