The expiation for a gathering (Kaffarat al-Majlis) is legislated after every gathering, and it wipes away any idle talk or sin that occurred therein. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to regularly recite it after every gathering, and it serves as a seal for goodness and an expiation for idle talk. Its wording is: "Glory be to You, O Allah, and with Your praise, I bear witness that there is no god but You, I seek Your forgiveness and I repent to You."
