How can theft occur despite reciting the remembrances (adhkar) with sincere intention and firm belief in God's protection?

Adhkār (remembrances of God) are supplications and means to protect a Muslim from harm. Their effect is conditional upon the fulfillment of several requirements, such as: the dhikr being righteous, the supplicant being present in heart and tongue, and there being no impediment to the answer, such as consuming unlawful earnings (ḥarām), committing sins, or being heedless. Adhkār may repel or alleviate tribulation. They have three positions in relation to tribulation: either they are stronger and repel it, or they are weaker and the tribulation occurs but is alleviated, or they are of equal strength and contend. The angels protect the servant until Allah's decree comes. When the predetermined destiny arrives, it occurs. Supplication may avert evil in unexpected ways or its reward may be saved for the Day of Judgment.
