What is the ruling on turning the pages of the Mushaf with fingers moistened with saliva?

It is permissible to moisten the finger with saliva to turn the pages of the Mushaf (Qur'an) when there is a need, because the intention is lawful and does not involve disrespect to the Mushaf. Sheikh Ibn Baz issued a fatwa permitting this. However, it is preferable to use a sponge moistened with water if possible, to avoid any difference of opinion.
