Is one who refuses to lead the people of his village in prayer and deliver sermons sinful, given the presence of someone unqualified to lead prayer and deliver sermons, and the latter's insistence that the former step forward?

One who makes mistakes in recitation should not lead the prayer, especially if the mistake in Al-Fatiha alters the meaning or invalidates it. Nor should one who lacks religious knowledge lead the Friday sermon, for fear of neglecting its pillars or misguiding the people. However, if he fulfills the pillars of the sermon and the prayer, his prayer is valid. If his mistakes are such that the sermon or prayer is not valid with them, and there is no one else whose prayer and sermon are valid, then the questioner may have to deliver the Friday sermon to the people, as establishing it is obligatory.
