Is it permissible for a woman to commute daily to her work for a distance of 60 km in a car driven by a foreign driver, knowing that she may sometimes be alone with him, and is it better for her to drive her own car to avoid that?

If a wife is alone with a driver in a car, this is an unlawful khalwa (seclusion). Similarly, her traveling a long distance without a mahram (unmarriageable kin) is considered an unlawful journey. If the wife is a good driver, there is no objection to her driving a car, provided she adheres to Islamic regulations. However, the issue of traveling without a mahram remains, and it must be resolved by the presence of her husband or one of her mahrams with her.
