If a wife is alone with a driver in a car, this is an unlawful (seclusion). Similarly, her traveling a long distance without a (unmarriageable kin) is considered an unlawful journey. If the wife is a good driver, there is no objection to her driving a car, provided she adheres to Islamic regulations. However, the issue of traveling without a mahram remains, and it must be resolved by the presence of her husband or one of her mahrams with her.
