ما هي المخالفات اليسيرة لمنهج أهل السنة والجماعة في العقيدة الطحاوية؟
The most important and famous issue in which Al-Tahawi differed from the methodology of the Salaf is the issue of faith (Iman). He excluded deeds from the definition of faith and made it a single entity, which contradicts the methodology of the Salaf who hold that faith is a statement (of the tongue), deeds (of the limbs), and belief (of the heart), and that it increases and decreases. Many have considered Al-Tahawi's statements on faith to be in agreement with the views of the Murji'at al-Fuqaha.
Among other issues where Al-Tahawi differed from the Salaf is his statement: "A servant does not exit faith except by denying what brought him into it." Whereas the people of knowledge believe that there are many other reasons that cause a servant to exit Islam besides explicit denial, such as slandering Islam or ridiculing Allah and His Messenger.
Furthermore, Al-Tahawiyyah text contains some ambiguous phrases that may be exploited by the people of innovation, such as his saying: "He (Allah) is exalted above limits, ends, pillars, limbs, and instruments. The six directions do not encompass Him, unlike all created things."
