What are the rulings concerning blood and discharges that precede and follow menstrual bleeding, and is ghusl (ritual bathing) and changing clothes obligatory after their cessation, and does an irregular menstrual cycle affect fertility, and what is the correct method of ghusl after menstruation?
Discharges related to menstruation that appear after the minimum period of purity (15 days) are considered menstruation, and the duration of menstruation is 7 or 8 days. Discharges that appear after performing ghusl (ritual bath) and seeing the sign of purity are not considered menstruation and do not require repeating ghusl. Yellowish or brownish discharges during the days of menstruation are considered menstruation. Clothes stained with menstrual blood or discharges must be washed, but there is no need to change outer garments. This does not affect fertility, and it is advisable to consult a doctor. It is permissible for a Muslim to inquire about matters of their religion.
