Is it permissible to seek blessings from graves, based on the fatwa of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal allowing the touching and kissing of the Prophet's (PBUH) minbar, and doing the same with a grave as a means of drawing closer to Allah?

The mention of kissing graves and wiping oneself with them in Imam Ahmad's book "Al-Ilal" (The علتs) is problematic for several reasons:

1. The grave of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is not openly accessible to visitors but is surrounded by a fence, so how could it be wiped or kissed? 2. The wording of the question in the mentioned narration from Abdullah bin Imam Ahmad is strange and unusual, especially with the mention of the grave. 3. What is known about Imam Ahmad and the great Imams of the Hanbali school is their dislike for wiping or kissing graves. Wiping was specifically done with the minbar and its pommel, not the grave. It was narrated from him that he was unaware of such a practice, and from Ibn Umar that he did not do it. 4. Scholars have unanimously agreed that it is not permissible to wipe oneself with the grave of the Prophet (peace be upon him) or any other prophets or righteous people, nor to kiss it, in order to prevent any form of polytheism and to affirm monotheism. 5. Wiping oneself with graves and kissing them is a custom of Christians and Jews, and it is not part of Islamic law. Blessing comes from what conforms to the Sharia, not from what contradicts what is right. 6. Reverence revolves around Allah's authority. Whatever Allah has sent down authority for is truth, and whatever He has not sent down authority for is falsehood.
