What is the ruling on me tearing up a sum of money while in a state of extreme anger?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against anger due to its severe consequences. His saying, "Do not get angry," encompasses the good of this world and the Hereafter. Islam respects wealth and forbids its squandering and corruption, as Allah Almighty says: "And cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation" and "And Allah does not like corruption."

You must repent to Allah for what you have done. There is no sin upon you if anger overwhelmed your mind, but if the money belonged to someone else, then you must repay it.
