What is the ruling on marriage when one is unable to procreate?

If the defect prevents intercourse, then marriage is not permissible except after informing the woman of it, because defects that prevent intercourse grant the other party the option to annul the marriage. However, if the defect prevents procreation but does not prevent intercourse, then it is not necessary to disclose it according to the majority of jurists. Nevertheless, some scholars believe that every defect that necessitates an option [for annulment] and that infertility may alienate some women and lead to discord. It is advisable to inform the woman one wishes to marry and to seek a divorced or widowed woman who already has children, as she might accept marriage to someone who cannot procreate.
